Yet in the early 2000s, following Pierce Brosnan's undignified swansong 'Die Another Day,' 007's future seemed uncertain for several years, so it was only natural some pretenders to the throne would emerge. Most commercially and critically successful of these, of course, was the 'Bourne' series, also adapted from a long-running series of popular novels, and ostensibly far removed from traditional Bond with its grittier, more realistic tone. ...
