The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit films have served as a lighthouse for J.R.R Tolkien's novels, lighting them up and giving them a widespread fan-base in numbers that Tolkien never could have imagined, not that the Hobbit as a book isn't universally loved. This fan-base is devoted and loyal and eager to get their hands on anything else that would quench their thirst for all things Middle Earth and now it appears that they're close to getting something else to go alongside the much loved films and books.
