Does the Man of Steel suppress his emotions or simply lack any?

After seeing 'Man of Steel', it's clear that the character of Superman is a little different from the like of Batman or most other superheroes out there. For one, he's indestructible, whereas Batman is mortal, and has common, mortal weaknesses. What's more, Bruce Wayne is the actual person behind the cowl and uses Batman to conceal his true identity. Superman does the opposite: this is the real him; he's Kal-El, and Clark Kent is the disguise.
