COMMENT | DC have confirmed plans to launch an overlapping movie universe in direct-to-DVD animated releases, starting with the new 'Justice League: War.' Ever since the comic book titans (in conjunction with their owners Warner Bros) have taken tentative steps to emulate the success of Marvel Studios with their live action movies, fans and critics have had their doubts. Rumours of behind-the-scenes difficulty on 'Batman vs. Superman' have done little to quell those fears. However, on the animated home entertainment front, DC arguably lead the way, with numerous hit TV shows and 18 animated features thus far, including a number of direct adaptations of the label's most popular graphic novels including 'Batman: the Dark Knight Returns.'
