Batman TV creator Lorenzo Semple Jr dies

Batman TV creator Lorenzo Semple Jr dies Lorenzo Semple Jr, a key figure in bringing 'Batman' to the screen in the 1960s, has died at his home in Los Angeles the day after turning 91. While he worked consistently in film and television from the 1950s through to the 1990s, he arguably made the greatest impact with 'Batman,' developing it for the screen, scripting the first five episodes of the Adam West series and establishing the highly distinctive tone. These days, Semple's Batman tends to be somewhat divisive. Unlike the dark and brooding takes on the character which Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan brought to the screen, Semple's take was notoriously garish, loud and unabashedly camp.
