'The Blair Witch Project' co-director Eduardo Sánchez has spoken about the possibility of further sequels to the horror phenomenon which spawned the found footage subgenre. Sánchez and his fellow director Daniel Myrick took the world by storm when their debut feature - reportedly shot for $20,000 with two basic camcorders, three unknown actors and no special effects - became a box office smash in 1999, earning almost $250 million worldwide. However, now that Sánchez's most recent film 'Exists' - a (yes) found footage horror about Bigfoot - was picked up for distribution by Lionsgate, the director was asked by Movies.com whether his reunion with the studio who own the rights to the series might conceivably take 'Blair Witch 3' off the back burner. Sánchez confirms, "Lionsgate owns the property, so it's obviously up to them right now.
