Labor Day starts off as quite a taut, intriguing thriller as Josh Brolin's character, escaped convict Frank, forces his way into a stranger's home - Kate Winslet playing Adele - at gunpoint. You see, Frank might be a convict - but he also irons shirtless, fixes loose floorboards and flexes the odd bicep here or there while sorting a squeaky door. And then there's the pie scene, in which Frank teaches Adele how to bake a peach pie - which has had people talking since the Toronto Film Festival last year.
