With the home release of 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' fans have been given the opportunity to re-live the outstanding adaptation of Suzanne Collins' novel and it's clear that there's been a lot of effort to create links between the first films and the upcoming 'Mockingjay' two-parter. After being attached as director, Francis Lawrence expressed his desire to pay more attention to details that will lead into the rest of the series nicely, stating that 'Catching Fire' is where the story 'opens up' and becomes 'more complex'. It was a moment that was pretty impossible to miss, but an inspired way to show how badly Katniss was struggling with post-traumatic stress. Francis Lawrence has revealed that when he was brought in to direct 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' the only request that producer Nina Jacobson and author Suzanne Collins had was that he should recast Buttercup, the cat.
