After rumblings of a shake-up amongst the 'Star Wars' Expanded Universe, it looks as though the new movies won't be forced to follow their stories… According to an official press release at StarWars.com, the upcoming 'Star Wars' sequels won't be forced to adhere to the stories of the Expanded Universe… and will likely tell an all-new story. "In order to give maximum creative freedom to the filmmakers and also preserve an element of surprise and discovery for the audience, 'Star Wars' Episodes VII-IX will not tell the same story told in the post-Return of the Jedi Expanded Universe." Of course, this means that filmmakers (and J.J. Abrams in particular) will be free to create 'Star Wars' films that don't necessarily fit with the previously-established post-Jedi stories.
