Pixar are in a creative funk. The innovative days of 'Toy Story', 'The Incredibles' and 'Up' seem like a million years ago because ever since 'Toy Story 3', arguably the zenith of Pixar's catalogue, they have been in a rut, with their releases ranging from 'okay' to 'bomb'. Pixar's biggest disappointment comes with their latest picture, 'Monsters University', a much hyped prequel to the beloved 'Monsters Inc.' There isn't a great deal bad about the film, just that it lacks the spirit, emotion and tenderness of the first one. Pixar's work over the past few years has stunk of laziness, and for a studio that prides itself on innovation and being the best in its field, it hasn't been good enough, especially as they have set such a high standard for themselves.
