For most of the year there has been a crisis in many a family household due to the lack of availability of 'Frozen' merchandise. According to Walt Disney Co. CFO Jay Rasulo, he revealed that due to the unexpected popularity 'Frozen' has experienced, the massive demand was simply unexpected and therefore unplanned. As with any new film release, toy manufacturers had to "hedge [their] bets" when producing merchandise in the beginning so they didn't overstock. While this is often a legitimate reason for some product shortcomings in terms of being able to supply shops (and their customers), it's an explanation that works business-wise, but isn't enough to get Disney out of hot water with many irate parents who were unable to purchase the merchandise for their children.
