Nicolas Cage handles Rapture aftermath in 'Left Behind'

Based on the best-selling novel by Tim Lahaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, the new thriller focuses on a cast of characters who have survived the Rapture, the instantaneous disappearance of millions of people worldwide. For some Christians, the Rapture is thought to be a future event in which true believers will be snatched up to heaven to meet Christ, while the rest of humanity remains on Earth to face a series of tribulations. An action thriller with strong religious undertones, "Left Behind" is directed by former stuntman Vic Armstrong from a script by Paul Lalonde and John Patus. First published in 1995, the immensely popular book was already adapted for the screen once before, in 2001, with a direct-to-video production directed by Vic Sarin and featuring Kirk Cameron.
