With $93.7 million in revenues, the heroes in a half shell unseated "Guardians of the Galaxy" at the global box office for the weekend ending August 10, according to Rentrak. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," the latest adaptation of the comics, rose to the challenge and outperformed "Guardians of the Galaxy" at the global box office this week, mainly thanks to US moviegoers. The turtles brought in $65 million in domestic revenues and $28.7 million abroad, while Star-Lord and his friends grossed $41.5 million in the US and $40.1 million abroad. In first place at the worldwide box office last week, the space adventure movie starring Chris Pratt is now in second place with $81.6 million, far ahead of "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," in third with $33.9 million.
