Why I think The Hunger Games and Katniss are so loved around the world

This seems to be a common trend for readers of Suzanne Collins' three novels, with almost everyone I know being affected by Katniss' tale in the same way. Admittedly, I was fairly late to the game when I read 'The Hunger Games' for the first time. The style of Suzanne Collins' writing immediately appealed to me. I've always been a fan of first-person narratives as I feel it allows more empathy for the characters and gives greater sense of the emotions that they are going through - something that is of major importance throughout Katniss' traumatic journey.
