The Hobbit helps boost IMAX sales

The Hobbit helps boost IMAX sales The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug have been lauded for their advancements in 3D, especially their introduction of a higher frame-rate. That's because Peter Jackson's 'Hobbit' films, alongside Alfonso Cuaron's 'Gravity' and Russian war epic 'Stalingrad' have been credited with the huge boost IMAX received in its fourth quarter. According to variety.com the theatre operator posted fourth quarter profits of $27.8 million, more than doubling the $12.8 million that IMAX earned during the same year-ago quarter that ended in December.
