Bob Iger Discusses Exactly Why Disney Bought Maker Studios

Bob Iger Discusses Exactly Why Disney Bought Maker Studios Disney CEO Bob Iger has explained the reasons behind their latest purchase of Maker Studios. The deal, believed to be initially worth around $500 million, will see Disney venture into the online domain to expand their already massive brand and target specific audiences through their newly acquired YouTube network. Maker is perhaps the most influential of its kind on YouTube, with 55,000 channels that attract around 5.5 billion visitors a month, which is frankly incredible. Maker includes PewdiePie, YouTube's most popular channel, which now stands at 26 million subscribers, so there are established audiences in place.
