Hayao Miyazaki wins award at this year's Annies COMMENT | This weekend saw Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli continue to build their collection of awards for their 2013 film releases at the 2014 Annie awards. Both 'The Wind Rises', Miyazaki's final feature film before announcing his retirement, and 'The Tale of Princess Kaguya', from fellow studio co-founder Isao Takahata; With Takahata's film having scooped acclaim at the Mainichi awards and Miyazaki's historical drama winning at a number of other ceremonies, the Annies (American animation awards presented by ASIFA- Hollywood) has notched up yet another win for 'The Wind Rises', as Hayao Miyazaki was awarded the Writing in an Animated Feature Production gong. The category was also made up by Disney's 'Frozen' and Pixar's 'Monsters University', with the Ghibli film also up for Character Animation in a Feature Production, as well as Best Animated Feature.
